Anyone know where one can find Nice Victorian Doll Houses.......... I am wanting to make one for my granddaughter. Thanks , bsewnsew
Here are some websites that you may find interesting. You must let us see the house your going to build when it's finished. http://www.victoriandollhouses.com.au/P ... works.html http://www.dollhousecollectables.com/vi ... houses.htm http://www.whitstablescene.co.uk/dolls.htm
bsewnsew you can always turn to the old reliable eBay as they have everything. Have a look here: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... +dollhouse Did you want to make out yourself from a kit of some sort?
I would check around for a hobby shop someplace local to you, or a reasonable driving distance anyway - miniatures are always better if you can pick them out in person, and a dollhouse kit is a big enough investment that you would want to see the samples that are already assembled. Do some research on the different manufacturers you see after a visit to the shop and see what feedback folks have about how difficult it was to really assemble and how many of the parts were working and fitting as they ought. There are shoddy, cheap sets out there where you would be lucky to make it all line up and others that go together well, as with any product. Your house will also need a good solid foundation - bear that in mind when considering the size of the building, as the foundation (usually a piece of wood) will need to be slightly larger than the house. How old is your grand-daughter? Victorian house kits are really a grown-ups hobby and many are not sturdy enough to withstand use by a child. If she is young you may do better with a nice storebought set until later on - or a very simple wood dollhouse plan that you can provide some furniture for and then if she is still interested when she is about 10-12 or older (depending on her attention to detail and how careful she is, personality-wise) consider the more elaborate one. Good luck! --
