Dandelion

Category: Flowers | Posted: Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:38 pm

The dandelion, known to botanists with its Latin name Taraxacum, is known to one of the flowers that are vastly spread all over the world. Although native to Europe and Asia only, several species are also found on different continents, making this plant a very common one. Its floret is bright yellow and positioned on top of a hollow stem. The leaves of the plant are also having a specific form, somewhat like lances. The very name depicts them like vicious teeth (from French dent-de-lion – lion's teeth), but in reality they are pretty. The plan grows small, not reaching more than 4-5cm in diameter and about 20cm in height.......Read more about Dandelion flower...

Daisy

Category: Flowers | Posted: Fri Feb 22, 2013 5:14 pm

The daisy flower is everywhere – it grows easily in almost any soil, climate and humidity and is one of the most unpretentious plants in the world. On top of that, they're very pretty. The simplicity of their beauty is so attractive that they are almost the top gifted flower worldwide, not counting the pieces cut out without buying. They are also filled with different meanings bearing the same definition – purity. While the traditional daisy is white with a yellow centre, there are still so many varieties of this plant, that it is impossible to even count them outside of an encyclopaedia. Gerbera daisies, for example, can be yellow, pink, blue, yellow and more. There are some with gradient colours and some with black centres! They are also perfect for bouquets, garden arrangements, home décor, potted presents and even garment accessorizing, not to mention the various textures, patterns and elements based on the flower that are visible in almost every house. "If you would be happy for a lifetime,

grow chrysanthemums."

Chinese proverb

There are about thirty species in the Chrysanthemum flower genus. All of the flowers are characterised by a rare form of the head, which is in fact a group of small florets itself, and come in a wide variety of colours and shapes as a whole. They may be similar to daisies, buttons, bells and more. Originating from the North eastern regions of the European continent and some Asian zones, the members of this genus from the asteracae family are divided into nine categories, based mainly on their forms. These are cascades, reflexed, incurved, charms, singles, quills, late flowering, pompon and intermediate..... Read more: Chrysanthemum flower

Campanula

Category: Flowers | Posted: Sun Feb 17, 2013 11:43 am

There is one flower whose Latin name is probably more famous than its common name and it is the Campanula. Deriving from the Latin for "little bell', this flower from the campanulaceae family carries a long history. They are beautiful, grow in almost any climate (but feel better in temperate ones) and can bloom throughout the entire year. Another unique thing about them is the form of the blossoms and petals, for which they bear the same name in all languages – bell-like shapes.....more about Campanula flower.

Bird of Paradise

There are many sources that tell us what a flower's secret meaning might be. They tell us roses are for separation, for romance and even for funerals. In other words – deciphering the meaning behind a specific flower is a hard job not everyone would take on. It is even harder when it comes to rarer and more specific plants such as the so-called Bird of Paradise. Depictions of a bird that had landed on Earth straight from paradise or a flower that is so exquisite that it is about to fly away to paradise – many ideas clash into this simple, but elegant plant to make it a perfect present for everyone, regardless of gender and of age...........Read more about Bird of Paradise flower.
