I have been buying roses to design my garden. I have pastel colors and bright colors. I have been wondering if I buy the new blue rose bush due to come out in 2009 that my garden might look strange. Any thoughts.

We saw a butterfly being born Yesterday!

Category: Annette VG 's Butterfly Garden | Posted: Thu Apr 10, 2008 2:26 pm

Yesterday was the day that I was due to water my garden. I used my blower to clear away the pollen and processed to spread water everywhere. My 3 year old was looking intensely in one area so I followed his gaze and saw what I had always wanted to see. A butterfly was wiggling out of its chrysalis. It must have been happen over many days because we caught the last few hours of it wiggling out. When it was done we saw her hanging upside down and it was using its wings. I was so in shock by its beauty that I did not get my camera. I will wear my camera from now on. Her body was a furry navy blue. Her wings were mutli-colored ( Navy blue, black and had orange and red tips) Beautiful. I step outside today with my camera, but she was gone. I am happy that she chose out backyard to grow. My only regret is that I did not know she outside otherwise I would not have used the blower as she was being born. I will keep you posted and will take pictures of what I see.
Peace and joy,
Annette

I Think It Worked

Category: Annette VG 's Butterfly Garden | Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2008 4:23 pm

About five months ago I planted Bermuda grass. I watched outside of the window every day and nothing was happening. Then overnight it seemed, that my Bermuda grass grew. Then from nowhere, butterflies arrived (so did humming birds and bumble bees!) Yellow ones, grees ones and striped ones were flying low putting on a show for my son and I. I also Purple Coneflowers, Aster, Black-eyed Susan,Butterfly Weed, Hollyhock, and Lavender. I will keep you posted on their progress.
