Pressed Leaf Projects

Pressed Leaves ( photo / image / picture from kathyd's Garden )

Every Autumn I can't resist pressing the colorful leaves. Last year I pressed dozens. I've had a good time hanging them around the house.

I hung these from a few branches of my Harry Lauder's Walking Stick bush. The copper wire seems to blend in nice with the colors of the leaves. My cats have been fairly well-behaved and have only knocked one or two off the branches.

A few are dangling from the chandelier. I used copper wire for these too.

I strung these leaves with a needle and invisible thread. I left the needle on the thread and used it to slip into the small space between the beam and the ceiling. Because the leaves are feather light, the tiny needle has no problem holding them above the floor. It looks so pretty when the leaves flutter in the breeze. The edges are curling just a bit due to all the moisture we have had, but that only makes them look even more natural.

A very cost effect way to have beautiful decorations around your home. A really great idea!!

A person after my own heart. I to love to decorate with fall leaves. I'll find myself going for a walk in the woods and hardly ever looking up because I don't want to miss snatching up a beautiful leaf. I press them between sheets of wax paper with a iron. They do look so neat as the flutter about. I love your ideas.

Thanks Eileen and Tooty. Tooty, I think I am going to try the wax paper with my grandsons, they will enjoy making placemats for their mother's table.
