What a wonderful blank canvas you have to work with. I love daylilies, so I would suggest some of those.

I can feel my fingers itch as I look at those photos. Lucky you! What kind of soil do you have?

Oh to have an expanse of grass to do with as I like!!! My garden is soooo overstuffed that it's hard to squeeze in any more plants. Do keep us updated on what you decide to do with your garden won't you?

Hi Bird Lover, I would suggest first doing a soil test (including soil pH) to determine what type of soil you have and then drawing a light map of your garden space to figure out how much sun the area is getting at different parts of the day.

These two tasks will help determine what you can and cannot plant in your garden. Also choose plants that do well in your zone.

Hope this helps,
// frank

P.S we like that members resize their photos, Here is a tutorial to help you do that:

It is a bit scary when you first get started. My garden design method is- buy a plant, decide where it needs to go and plant it.
First thing I would do is plant vines or large busy type flowering plants along the fences to make your yard into a more private space.

Good luck and don't forget to show us pictures as the gardening progresses.
