Welcome to my blog

Category: Rose Cuttings | Posted: Tue Jul 01, 2008 1:59 am

I am trying to get a rose started from an existing rose bush that has been in my family for over 50 yrs.

I have taken several clippings from the mature plant and have them wrapped in wet paper towels in a storage baggie. The Cuttings are from several different parts of the plant.

I am looking for specific information detailing which methods and procedures will produce the best results at his point.

Hi Irallen,

I think you have a better chance of getting an answer to your question if you post it in the Roses forum instead of in a blog entry. The link to the Roses forum is here:

Good luck,

Hi lrallen,

You are fortunate to have such an heirloom rose. Hope you'll post a pic of it or an earlier grown one. This is info from my daughter Cindy. For my new cutting, she advises a length above ground no taller tham a mayo jar and a bit less underground. First take off all thorns. Use a pencil or other to put hole in ground for bottom of stem. Her new growth has come from the above ground places where thorns were removed. I'm trying this...this week-end. Hope it works for you and me. Not sure what my stem is. Thaoght it was a rose. Stem looks like rose and has thorns but bloom is large with lots of tiny pink petals.
Do you know what this may be?
Good luck with your precious rose planting.
