DucksThis morning while doing my routine jobs of feeding all our animals I noticed there were two of our animals missing. The silence from their nesting area and no visual concerned me. Our two beloved black ducks were no where to be seen. My husband admitted he had not shut the coop area for the ducks the night before. I had hoped that they got an early start to their day of foraging. I kept an eye out for them all day. It became apparent they will not return. After re-inspecting their coop I found evidence to suggest that a predator came in the night and got them. We had grown to really enjoy our ducks and they also just started laying a few eggs. We have more on order but, this bred is kinda hard to get without paying a bigger price. My daugher had raised these from babies and they were our first time trying ducks. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved ducks. You will miss them I'm sure.maybe you can get a couple more black ones soon.
Aw Shannon that's sad to hear. Sounds like you were quite attached to them.
Oh heck isn't it just typical - the one night the coop area isn't secure and something gets in and kills your ducks!! So sorry to hear of their demise Shannon. I hope you'll be able to find more of the same breed soon.
I'm sorry about your ducks. They are fun to watch and duck eggs are really good. Hope you get some more soon. dooley
It is so easy to get attached to our animals. So sorry for your loss.
WE know the feeling .. Our chickens got carried away by coons.
Sorry to hear about your loss. We had Khaki Campbell ducks for years. One started out as a pet and then there were more. They were the best egg layers and slug getters. Kind of miss them, good luck getting more of your favorite breed.
Awww... so sorry to hear that your ducks are gone... that is a hard break, especially for your daughter, having raised them from ducklings. I hope you can find some more. Login or register to leave a comment. |
