OH NO!! CHIGGER ATTACK!!! HELP??

Category: Chiggers!!! Help? :o( | Posted: Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:37 am

Today me and my baby went outside and we went to sit down on our porch and there were RED BUGS EVERYWHERE!! I immediately garbed my baby and swept the porch off. I didn't think much about the bugs until I told my hubby and he said they were CHIGGERS!! Oh gosh my worst night mare. Outside of our apartment we made a beautiful garden. Now I am thinking about hacking everything down because I don't want them to come in our home and attack my baby!! I have been reading about how to get rid of them but I can not find anything reliable. I read that Sulfur powder is affective if you spread it over the entire area but I don't know how effective because I only found a little info. Please help? I do not want to spray poisons because I care about my drinking water and my families health. Has anyone found sulfur affective? I am going to buy a 5 lb bag tomorrow and poor it everywhere I can. I hope I can get some reliable info from this new web site I found :o) Garden people are my type of people.

Don't go hacking down your garden. Like Glenda said it probably wasn't chiggers if you could see them. They are only 1/100th of an inch in size and don't hang around on porches.

What we call a chigger is the larval stage of the Harvest mite. If you could see them they might have been the adult Harvest mite and is completely harmless, in fact it is a beneficial insect in the garden eating the eggs of many insects including mosquitos.

ive always wondered what those lil red things were and they are pretty tiny aint they..

i doubt they would like your house, the garden is probably where they are comfortable...

If there are adults then there are larvae which are chiggers. I just need to know if sulfur can get rid of them.
