Pickerings Orpheline De Juliette and others...Its raining.. When hasnt it! We had a very dry May here.. but are now over for the year with all this moisture the last two weeks. There is a ongoing debate as to what the rose below is.. I really do not know! The one pickering is selling at the moment, isnt nearly as dark as what others are selling. Its a medium pink gallica of some sort.. With a very nice scent I would put scent at 3 1/2 out of 5. Its hardy to the tips here with zero dieback in my zone 5b garden. For now Ill continue to call it Pickerings version until someone comes up with a better id for it... BTW all this rain plays havoc on my Macro feature for anything beside light pink or darker roses, those with a fushia / mauve base , the rain seems to set off a sort of glow.. I will try to correct in photoshop, but I cant gaurantee any success. ![]() ![]() Below Quadra, second year for me, it will take a couple more to get very big to make a good arbor shot.. It overwintered ok in big pots for my move, with some tip damage. Ive heard this isnt a great rose for colder regions than mine, that Henry Kelsey makes a better one. I do not find any scent on this rose most days, but for a cold hardy red climber, its either Quadra or Ramblin' Red... I liked the form of Quadra better so its what I got. It has some nasty thorns however. ![]() Below Quadra was my first bloom of any rose this year... This was like 2 weeks ago. ![]() Austins Crocus Rose! I cant say enough about this rose, but I will later, it will start to open soon. A pale creamy yellow, very hardy for zone 5! with just tip damage this year. I will not say all austins are hardy, but a few are, here is one of them! Light Tea Scent , but I get it early in the day, fades with the colour later. I will post more later! Just a very pretty bud though! ![]() My Albas are very close to opening, so hopefully have some more roses to weigh in on in a week or so. I lost 5-6 roses in the move and left 20 - 30 roses behind as per agreement to the sellers last year. So kind of starting over in a lot of aspects.
