More Wintersowing blooms and stuff...

Category: Wintersowing and Wintersowing Blooms | Posted: Mon Jun 22, 2009 3:59 pm

Poppies are out, I have a few more varieties to go.. I have like a hundred of Laurens Grap Poppies ready to burst soon as well.

Kiss me over the garden gate, makes a great foiliage plant, even before it blooms its long rope like flowers...

Below is some sort of corn poppy or shirly popply, I dont know which... It has bloomed in a greyish lavender, dark purple, and a red so far... I actually thought it was double peonies when I planted them! Oh well, sometimes when you trade seeds you get that sort of mix up.

California Poppies with friend

Nice Mellow orange on these...

Spearmint, alot of poeple dont like mints, probable becuase they force them into gardens that are too small for it, I have pepermint as well, I think the combo of them together with lemon balm makes a GREAT tea! The little tag I got at a store in Limington Maine called the country collection... BTW if you want to grow mints or evening primrose or mondara, I always suggest grow them where you could care less about them, put them in crappy soil with part shade and dont overwater them. Here in the north they will spread, but it should limit it somewhat. Pluck them down in your richest amended soil next to roses you have to water every week, DUH! of course they gonna spread!

Roccoco Pansy! Im sooo happy about these, I count like 10 flowers ready to pop out there, After 3 years of trying to wintsow pansies, these came in great!

Geranium bohemicum Orchid Blue... I got two different packs of these... both of them germinated, whats funny is one plant looks so far ahead of the other, but the little one put a few blooms up! Dont ask me, go ask your mother... (Dr Suess refrence there)

Last but not least is some camelot rose foxglove, have a pinker one coming as well. I also wintersowed Candy Mountain and Excelsior foxgloves this year...

Hopefully will have some more stuff to share later.... this rain and cool weather has delayed things for a couple of weeks...

Gorgeous photographs Silverkelt.

I have both spearmint and peppermint plants too but have them in planters as they certainly can be a tad invasive can't they?

Those poppies are so vibrant and must really cheer up your garden along with the foxgloves, geraniums and pansies. I do love bright colours at this time of year.

Please, please, post pictures of Kiss Me Over the Garden Gate when they bloom. I tried to germinate some once, will have to give them another try.

Love the photos of your blooms. I'm a rose lover and the pale peach is gorgeous.
