My first tomatoes...

I have just grown my first tomatoes. It's a great feeling to be able to pick my own veggies. I thought they would never blossom, let alone form real fruit. Plus, there has been a lack of bees around here, so I gently shake the stems that the flowers are on. Then I saw 1 bee after another buzzing around the plants. Next year, I'm going to try a German tomato that is the meatiest one I have ever eaten...if I can find out the name of it.

I know how you feel about growing things and get the first fruits.I grow tomatoes evert year and do love to eat them.I grow lots of veggies in my little garden .I give most of them away .I just love growing them.

I grew yellow tomatoes this year instead of red and I'm still cropping them. They've done much better than I'd expected. It still gives me a buzz to go outside and crop my own fruit and veg even although I've done it for years.

My tomatoes are done already. One of the joys of living in New Orleans is having fresh tomatoes before everyone else. The bad part is we don't have them by August. In fact, they are finished long before August. I will probably try for a fall crop this year.

I recently planted my fall tomatoes I tried a Heirloom variety Mortage Lifters I am really pleased with my cukes Parks Seeds Bush Whooper it is not a true bush but it is very prolific. Good luck and Good Gardening
