Starting in on the veggie gardenWell it's starting to snow again, it's supposed to be a pretty decent storm but I'm ready for spring. I guess that's part of being a real New Englander, we love the snow, couldn't imagine life without it, but complain all winter. So to keep my mind off the cold dark state of my world I've been starting the veggie garden. I know it's pretty early for most of what I'll be planting but I've started germinating some of the plants that I can keep potted and under grow lights until spring. Last night we bought our first grow light to perk up the herbs we've had going for about a month now, it's got some room for other plants as well and I'm thinking about investing in at least one more. We started 4 types of chili peppers, and some tomatoes from seed in peat pellets for now. I'm also working on the scallions that I bought a while back. I'm trying them in a pan for now on the recommendation of a friend. We transplanted our basil and parsley into bigger individual pots as they were getting big and overcrowded. Hopefully it will get warm soon, but it's mid February in New Hampshire, so I expect to see snow storms at least a few more times and it'll be probably 2 or 3 months until it's really warm out for more than a day at a time.
