BLUEBERRIES IN ORLANDO

Category: Garden, Flowers and Citrus in Orlando, FL | Posted: Sat Apr 09, 2011 1:34 am

My son and I are going to order some blueberry bushes from a Georgia Grower tomorrow. Mike will grow them in his backyard as a hedge. We will get the mature size so we won't have to wait to start picking berries. I hope in the future to have lots of them in my freezer. The blueberries are suppose to be so good for us to eat.
When I lived in Bethlehem, PA, I use to grow lots strawberries. I grew so many my family got tired of eating them. This was 25 years ago and they still do not like strawberries.

The potatoes that we planted in the potato sack are growing so fast. I keep adding soil every few days. I can't wait to see how many potatoes we really get from this sack in a few months.

The sweet potato plants are growing good too. I am going to get some free mulch that has turned to soil from the county. I will need the soil to cover the sweet potato vines as they grow.

I have okra, cucumbers, bush beans, squash, sweet potatoes growing in my 4 foot wide and 40 foot long garden. I am ready to plant some more beans and pepper in the garden. By July the temperature is too hot to grow vegetables here. We start again in September with our fall garden.

Happy Gardening!
