Welcome to my blog! I love Garden Stew so far and are just learning to get around. I'll introduce myself in a forum later, but I'm an avid gardener in the high mountain desert of New Mexico and container gardening and solar greenhouse gardening is what I love best. Blooming today in the solar greenhouse:
Scentd geraniums, lavender, Sage, Calendulas and some very robust Sugar Daddy petunias. The Geraniums have bloomed non-stop throughout the winter, and the Sage and Fennel outdid themselves. I plant by the moon, so following the Farmer's Almanac and the moon cycles is important. Tomorrow signals the start of Pisces, a watery but prolific time to plant seeds. Going in the nice, warm solar heated dirt will be:
Bloomsdale Spinach, Pacific Beauty Calendula, baby Romaine ( a small variety I've not yet tried), and German Chamomile for some lovely teas, tisanes and soap. Every natural soap I make contains ingredients from the solar greenhouse, grown organically with fish fertilizer, so my gardens and greenhouse are a valuable resource for herbs and spices. Good Garden Blessings! Victoria Sharpe
