New House new Garden

Well, spent most of 2013 with clean hands, with moving from Canada to the UK.
I'm very surprised how disconnected i feel from the seasons and nature in general. Without my daily sojourn to the bottom of the garden.

This weekend we finally get the keys to our new house, picked primarily for its gardens my choice, and for the age of the house my wifes choice.

with a south facing sun trap of a front garden for herbs and a long back garden for a backyard orchard, kitchen garden and flower beds. I have big plans over the next 12 months.

including :

planting of 2 plums, 4 cherry, 28 apple trees, to make a belgian fence.

my first green house and potting shed, building of 3 new raised beds.

transformation of the backyard into a cottage garden.

During all this i also plan to get an allotment and possible some honey making insects :)

So very keen to see if my learnings from canada help in the UK and like all gardeners, looking forward to the challanges ahead.

Will post some pictures once i move in.

Garden Pond

I need to build a waterfall for the garden pond to help aerate and reduce the amount of mosquitos.

Also need to remove the reed bed from the pond and think about what plants we are going to put in the area.
