It was chucking it down and blowing a gale this morning so, I didn't go into the garden.

It dried up in the afternoon, but was still "blowy."
I noticed that the mimosa had nearly broken free from its restraining wires and was in danger of banging against the fence panel and damaging it.
I needed a solution to let it move a bit, but not too much.
So I used a bit of "engineering science" and just as importantly, what I had in the garage.

I still had the very stout long dowel, that I used to support it when it needed it,
so I created a "torsion bar."
I attached the dowel to two of the concrete fence posts and wired the trunk of the mimosa to it using a bit of vinyl to protect it.

It can still wave about a bit, as the dowel will flex, but it stops the trunk from hitting the fence in a strung gust.,

Aww that is such a very kind and lovely response to my post @Sjoerd . Thank you.x

I sometimes worry that I 'go off topic' too often and end up leading my posts ( and all you lovely folk) up many unrelated paths!!!!:whistling:

I think I tend to write as if I'm writing up a summary of my day in a diary.:chuckle: I suppose that in a way is a good way to describe my posts as over the many years I've been active on 7 gardening forums I sometimes look back and re read them to relive happy times and of ' where I was ' at those particular times in my life.

I use to care for my Dad's garden after he became too frail.....my Mum passed away 14 years before he did and she was a truly amazing and knowledgeable gardener.Dad and I had previously worked together to keep it in a manner that she would 've approved of ...to the best of our somewhat lacking abilities.;) :whistling:
I now often read back on certain forums and relive those days I spent with Dad when he was often at low points and missing Mum. Together we would head off to her favourite Garden Centre and buy plants that would fill a gap in her carefully planned borders.....neither of us knowing really if we had chosen appropriately ...we use to laugh and say she was looking down on us both and having a good giggle. So yes I see now that often write in diary mode.
So excuse me if I write too personally or waffle on too much at times......just pull me in, I won't be offended.......much!!!:smt044:smt044

    Thanks again @Sjoerd x

I finally did some weeding yesterday, and got the carrots and beets cleaned out. I removed the green beans and saved the beans for seed for next year. I am drying them in a pan in my work room.

Mowing with that bag on my push mower provides a ton of grass clippings for topping off containers, and compost and mulch, etc. If it is an area with weed seeds, those can go to my horse.

I did do more mowing today, and watered my garden more. It is quite dry now, despite all the rain we had in the spring.

More rain today, but hopefully, there will be a window this afternoon when I can do a bit of wisteria pruning. It's "green bin" collection day tomorrow so I'd like to get the job done today.

I connected my garden hoses and took them around front to water my elderberry trees. The berries are nearly ripe, and some were alreay ripe. I picked the ripe ones, but the trees looked quite thirsty. I watered it, and other flowers on that end of the yard. I also went ahead and dumped/cleaned/refilled my pets water tubs since I already had the hose over there. I will do the others tomorrow.

Sometime this week, I really need to make jam with last year's elderberries... and the new ones also.

I did quite a bit this morning before it rained.
Cut the back lawn, it's slowly recovering after my scarifing.

I got into the three main wisterias, and removed a lot of surplus growth. "A ladder was necessary," much to wife's concerns. They don't look that different, but what I pruned off filled the green bin.

Did some re-arranging of the pots on the rose patio. They were in two lines of six, but it was a pain trying to clear leaves etc., behind them. So I removed one and spaced the rest out in three lines, which will make the job easier. Should have done it earlier

The pergola rail could do with another coat of paint, but I need a day when it's dry and there's no wind.

I watered all the pots, although we've had some rain, there's never enough to stop them getting dry.

It's a cool and breezy morning so I got my biggest barrow out, my loppers and secateurs and tackled my large thornless blackberry patch. Got that trimmed, removed old unproductive branches and weeded it. Then had to remove a slew of vines from the fence. My wheelbarrow was stacked higher than I am !! :p

After that I fertilized both blackberry patches (I fixed the smaller one up already) then pruned the Mulberry bush, dumped it all in the ditch and was ready for a shower and breakfast.

Nice garden DHR . Gorgeous and so well maintained. Always looks great thru each garden season.

Logan nice harvest. Yumm.. fresh Tom’s and blackberries.

Anniekay your keepin buzzzy and Always have good techniques to keep your plants, flowers, veggies and fruit trees in peak condition.

I washed down the porches the rain dumped pine needle from the trees everywhere. Did the usual mow mow mow …(row, row, row, your boat) Annie.

Trimmed a few more branches off the trees that were getting too thick and blocking the sunlight. This cooler weather is also showing signs of autumn. Leave are falling and changing color plants are starting to shut down while others are happy for the rain. .

Did get soaked while mowing but that’s what rain gear if for.

I’m still having trouble with this site.

Ya all have a good day.
