Some flowers are looking ok. October 4. Peanut butter shrub when leaves are crushed they smell just like peanut butter. Harlequin glorybower . That trumpet vine that keeps coming back no matter what I do ti it…UGH.. bumblebee on Succulent flowers. Yellow jackets out hunting. Hosta rooted on the pond rock - showing leaf seasonal fall color.
Annie— you know, that Dianthus …when you look at it good— it is actually a very lovely flower. It is small, but the detail! I grow different sorts every year. Some years they come back, they are; after all, perennials. Having said that, our conditions are not appreciated by them. I can get excited by small beautiful things in the garden. Thanks for showing him. Pac— what’s not to like here. Everything from garden insects to peanut butter to that show-stopping Campsis. That is one of the most technically composed fotos one could hope to see. Bordering on perfect, I’d say. Chapeau. I want to say, the Hosta composition is also not shabby at all either.
@Sjoerd Do you cut your Dianthus back in summer? Mine got all ratty looking so, I cut them back to about 5" in mid summer. Once temps cooled down they have started blooming again. I love the frilly, frayed edges of the petals and the curly stamens .
Annie— I do sometimes and do get a second blooming. Pac— you are more than welcome…dik verdiend, as we say.
I am Humbled. I thought I did so well growing tomatoes. I bragged to my daughter who lives on a farm in Wisconsin . She sent me this....said it was just SOME of her yeild...
dik verdient is so close to the German wohlverdient. Well deserved in english. @Pacnorwest My gawd !! @Jersey Devil your daughter beat the pants off ya this time!! You must be so proud !!
This is one potted plant I am happy how it turned out. I put the impatiens in the back by mistake and they were blocked most of the Summer, but boy did they show up nice this fall.
There was always that one child that when you told it "come in the house, it's getting late" but wouldn't listen...
