Thanks for your kind comments Oreti I enjoyed lookin at your snuggy room very well appointed and it’s about time for a bit of arm chair gardening. Warmer , dryer and time for a break for hard working gardeners. I like pristiness in some ways . Just enough to remove the moss and lichen covering everything that doesn’t move .

Anniekay your comment made me laugh. “I can always smack them with the stick”. :smt043 Love to see your beautiful walking stick. So fancy smancy. I have several walking sticks from old bamboo or even a blinged out fancy cane.
I spied some mighty cool area rugs and knickknacks…

Today is Veterans Day and we honor those who served and support them. We need to help the veterans that need help. They deserve all the help we can give to live a life with pride, honor and dignity . So many are homeless. We honor all our veterans who fought for our freedom. Thank you all for your service and some veteran members here who served our country and other veterans who served in their country . My heart will always remember and honor the great sacrifices they made for freedom.

I found this picture when horses were part of the battle right along side the soldiers in WW1.
This picture gives me pause , to remember all those brave souls that went into combat , past and present .

@Pacnorwest I'm sure you'd like this rug in my hallway. It follows that horse theme that we both are fond of. It's a Turkish style rug. IMG_0502.jpg

Anniekay beautiful rug very unusual to find a horse themed rug that elaborate and in a woven design.
Horse themed knickknacks, furniture a few items like my saddles and tac I have kept for years. One saddle has a silver display for when we rode in parades. My father left it to me which of course I will always treasure.

I looked for ages for that rug and was lucky to find it @Pacnorwest . I have my mule's saddle in the corner of the livingroom with her breast collar set up with Nettles wooden stirrups. Her bridle's hanging over the horn. I sold my western show saddle and my english and all the other tack I had ages ago, but just couldn't part with Millie's saddle. I also kept my Blue Roan Percheron's Bridle. It's huge !!

Amazingly your saddles are in prestine condition @Anniekay . I think it’s a great way to hold onto a life that was part of who you were , and horses / mules are the best . Training is so rewarding and all the accomplishments that surrounded that lifestyle. Your shinny appointed saddle in your living room stands for a memory that will always live in your heart. Millie must have been a good partner to you and very smart a Percheron OMG how lucky to have the opportunity to ride one. Mules are smart but I don’t think any mule or horse is smarter than my Arabians. :smt043:smt044 They taught me more than I thought them .
    SUCH MAJESTIC ANIMALS. :smt055 :sete_050:

You adore one of the eqines I would never own. :p Arabs and Thoroughbreds are not my cuppa. Mules will give an Arab a run for their money in intelliegence but not in speed. Slow lope is about the fastest a mule likes to go...UNLESS they an Arab or Tb mule, that is. :D

Ha ! I beg to differ… my Arabians were so smart they could smell anybody with little character faster than a race horse could run the 50.

I love my TennWalkers. Never had Thoroughbreds. But they are fast and pretty..

My mule was the same. She would walk toward the fence to check out a person and once she got ten feet or so away, if they weren't to her liking, she'd just keep on walking away. I rode pacers and Pasos. I don't care for gaited horses. I like trotters.

Next week I’m going to join you to bake mincemeat pies. They are so delicious. Most of your mince meat is very special since most is from your garden fruit trees.

My …Family coming ? ... Ahh Maybe... airlines are not running normal schedules due to the government shut down. So it’s a bit iffy if they will make their scheduled flights .:fingerscrossed:

Yesterday, I got out with a scissors and paper bag and collected more spent flower heads. I collected zinnia, marigold, cosmos...

We had temps in the low 20s sunday and monday nights, so most plants are done for the year.

Today I was out raking more leaves, and hauled them to flower beds or my compost heap. The lady wanting the birdhouse gourds is supposed to come by on sunday to get them.

I also rearranged my tool shed, so to try and keep varmints from digging into the chicken coop. They should not be able to get under the mowers and dig in. I moved the iron cot where it isn't up against the chicken coop wall. I use it to keep hay bales up off the ground and dry. It is an old thing that I found in the woods years ago. Actually I have 2 of them. I use the other one to keep stuff off the ground and dry also. I also sprinkled more sulfur around suspicious places.
