Early this morning I did some normal tidying up: deadheading and weeding. Then picked blueberries, about a half pint was ripe. Picked 4 cuces, my neighbor will get three, she has lots of family living with her. How many cuces can one woman eat?? :p One a day is all I can handle !!

Then I figured I'd run to the grocery for a couple things and would pick blackberries when I got back. No luck with that since it started raining on the drive home. Still raining so that's probably going to be it for today.

Watered front and back lawns a small area. The acid rain is tough on turf a little water from the well with minerals helps , then added slow release pellets of lime to the lawns.

Scared out a deer with my pellet gun no pellets just the noise scares them I caught him eying my hydrangeas, Waited him out while sneaking slowly to the buds on them and then when he made his move toward them.. WHAM popped the pellet gun . The deer jumped a mile and off he went all way out to the road with me firing the gun until it was empty of air.

Trimmed , the UGH wisteria. It wasn’t bad this year nor did it bloom due to the ground squirrels munching on the roots. Grabbed the blower and cleared the pine needles off the driveway and porches. Oh did I mention I got 2 ground squirrels yesterday.

Spot hit a few weeds with a weed product in the garden bed in the north section of the front driveway.

Now if I could only train my pup to pick up the clippings and take them all to the burn pile I would be a millionaire.

Housework for most of the morning but did squeeze in an hour of deadheading and watering in the greenhouse before lunch. Now going out again for a bit of leisurely planting out for a couple of hours ...only. ;):like:.

Annie— great harvest. Cucumbers—indeed, how many can someone eat! They make me burp too much.

Pack— oh dear me, your account of the deer and the pellet gun had me in stitches. I could just picture it. Sigh….oh me, oh my. You just won’t do. Hahahaha.

Oreti— good that you could squeeze a little time in.

Dead-headed the roses and picked more peas. The Swiss chard will be harvested tomorrow for the first time this season. It is wettish here today.

Yes I freeze most of them. I have two gallon size freezer bags full right now. I'll make blackberry pie and blackberry cobbler. I might make some jam if I get in the mood !! :p

My blackberries won't be ready for a month or so, but they are doing well.

I think it was @Willowisp0801 who had a large seedling in her carrots? That is a marigold seedling. It can be transplanted if you prefer it elsewhere. Or it might protect your carrots? Marigolds are good at repelling bad bugs. I love marigolds...
    Some of mine are up.

Well, one of my good neighbors loaned me their riding mower today, and I got most of my mowing done. The grass is so thick, and tall that I had to stop often and remove the grass clogs from the discharge. He will check out my push mower (my other friend has not gotten here so far) tomorrow if weather permits. My push mower got a new carb on it by the neighbor next door who loaned me his rider today. My yard is much improved. I raked up some of those huge lumps of grass clippings for Horsey. She loves them. I love that pic of the month of the palomino horse. She is lovely too.

And we have another storm moving in right now. I guess I will get a pre-shower in a bit when I walk my dogs before bedtime. It just let loose. All of this rain ought to make the blackberries big and fat.

I have been harvesting and eating my raspberries the last few days. So far, none have made it to the freezer, they are in a bowl in the fridge. I had to tie some of them back as they just flop over into the path...

My third planting of potatoes are up and going great. The second tub of sweet potatoes is finally up and going.

Here is an older picture of my Horsey where she is nice and clean. She is very muddy and has been playing in the mud lately with all of the rain we are getting, so not ready for a new photo. She is 24 now.

Lots of dill and cosmos are up. I am begining to find a few zinnias and marigolds around. I scattered them all over. Some of my calendula seeds are up, and the red yarrow is looking good, but not blooming yet.

I mowed carefully around my new trees so no one will mistake them for weeds and ruin them. They each have a stake also.

One of my friends would like some pine tree saplings. I gave her some black walnut saplings that I had thrown away the day before. Someone removed all the trees from the yard where she lives now (before she got the place), and she wants some trees. Hopefully, I can put my boots on and go looking for some pine saplings for her in a few more days. I have loads of pine trees here. I have a couple of forsythia bushes still in pots, I could share one of those also. Guess I will ask if she would like some silver maples also. They also grow very fast. The silver maples that I planted back in the 1990s are almost as huge as my white pines.

DS should be here shortly... Goldie.JPG

@Oreti sorry about your brother. My grandmother had Alzheimers so I can relate. Absolutely a horrible disease.

It can't make up its mind whether to rain or not. So I'm not bothering.

I planted out my blue pea plant and then pruned one of my rambling roses, the Cecile Brunner by the potting shed. Then I cleared my cucumber plants and Fava beans from two raised beds and composted those.

The Fava beans didn't take the heat. They flowered like mad but didn't make any beans so, I'll try those again for a fall planting. Then I picked the last of the tomatoes from the Longkeeper and Babyboomer tomato plants. I could hear my washing machine finishing so decided to wait to clear out those beds til tomorrow.

I cleaned up, hung out the laundry and decided to stay in as the humidity is so high right now.
