Thanks guys. Pac, no sledge hammer is feasible on this lock. My potting shed has a roll up door on it. If that gets ruined it would be 800 bucks to replace.

I have found a Locksmith who is coming out either tomorrow or next week. I told him "no rush" and he can pick locks he says. If he can't get the lock picked he says : " Don't worry, we have ways !! " :smt044

@Anniekay i hope that things go ok, it would be terrible if i lost the key to our front door, all the locks are in the door and impossible to break it.

@Oreti the VB don't self seed in my garden.

I have locked myself out of my house so many times, and once I locked my oldest son in the car when he was a baby... Thankfully a lady saw me do that, and was helpful. There was no second key to our car, so she whistled to a man on the parking lot, and yes he had a coat hanger in his car, and one window happened to be open just a crack and he got my car unlocked... That was over 50 years ago.

And we have a big blizzard coming over the weekend, it is supposed to be -10F by sunday night. Brrrrr. I have been trying to batten down the hatches here. I have the heat lamp in my well house plugged in. I did not get at the outside wall by the kitchen sink. Maybe I can in the morning before it gets nasty? They are calling for 12-18 inches of snow for here. Otherwise, the kitchen faucets will be frozen. That is a long story, but it used to be an interior wall and the plumbing runs along the edge of that wall and is hard to insulate. We keep trying.

I did work on some of my fall cleanup a little bit yesterday...

We've got the house key situation covered.
I've a key for the front and back door on the same ring as my car keys.
We've also a "key safe" on the side of the house, if my wife has an emergency and presses her panic alarm, which will alert social services. I just have to remember the code for the buttons, if I ever need the key.

I once locked myself out of my Honda CRV.
I was messing about with something on the back seat, left the keys on it and shut the door. It was designed to lock itself after a short while if it's left unlocked. So it did!
Fortunately the front door of the house wasn't locked so I could get the spare key.

My push button start Honda Jazz Crossstar, will unlock itself if you've the keys in your hand or in your pocket when you stand next to it. You can lock or unlock it using the buttons on the key fob, (the actual hidden key can be pulled out from the fob if you ever need to use it, say if the fob battery goes flat).
It has little ridged areas on the front door handles and a button under the boot handle that if you press them they will also lock the car.
But if you've left the keys inside the car, it won't lock!

Emptied the Dalek and bagged-up the compost for later use. I am already a bit achey…
    The season begins for real.

***Oh, I just wanted to say about the headaches that my Bride has them from time to time, well as long as I have known her actually. We noticed ages ago that was a correlation with changing weather patterns (barometric pressure) and the occurrence. She gets them with weather changes from fair to stormy, and vice-versa.

She used to say that maybe that was right. The thing is that she still say that she is not sure even when I remind her of the tens of years we have been together. My point being that so many occurrences cannot be dubbed, “mere coincidence “.

Then we bought this apartment. Once settled she began having the headaches very frequently. No fun.

One of the things we had to replace in our home was the sucker above the cooking stove. —Long story short, it had been hooked-up wrong and sent our cooking scents into a large general tube. The chap that installed had to correct it and explained why. It had to do with the WTW.

He further told us about all the negative things that could happen with it being hooked-up incorrectly, and one thing was that the WTW was so strong that the pressure would change in the dwelling. Apparently it would switch back and forth between blowing and sucking. This would cause some people to experience headaches. It was a jaw-dropping moment.

@Sjoerd I get now. Didn’t quite understand . Here is what google came up with.
A stove fan (range hood) that is improperly installed, underpowered, or lacks proper ventilation can cause severe negative air pressure in a home. This happens because the fan exhausts air faster than it is replaced, leading to backdrafting of combustion gases from appliances, hard-to-open doors, and poor air quality.

I have a hood vent that vents the cooking steam to the outdoors but now I am not calling it that anymore.

From now on I'm using @Sjoerd the term :
"The Sucker over my Stove " LOVE IT !! :p

Most houses even with double glazing have "air leaks"
Like real fire or gas fire hearths, gaps between the skirting and floorboards, loft trap doors, tumble dryer vent hoses, Xpelair fans, even when closed, etc., I doubt if our house has ever had negative air pressure.

Gosh @Sjoerd !! I hope things are very much better for your wife now.:fingerscrossed:

I find that I definitely get more migraines ( had them since my teenage years) during the Winter and I've put then down to the poorer light levels and the need to be under electric lights more.

Had a fairly productive couple of hours in the garden before the rain put a halt to things.

I opened up the big lean- to coldframe and took all the Geraniums out for a clean up/ cut back and removed all blooms and buds to retain their energy levels. They all received a light watering too.

The next joint job shared with hubs.....but he was on ladder climbing duties, not me!!....was to clean the outside security cameras and readjust the angles on a couple.

I had planned to sow some Cleome seeds but just didn't get around to it, hopefully tomorrow.:fingerscrossed:

Luv geraniums and cleome’s. You have some special flower plants for next season. I wish I had half your energy.

It’s colder than frog snot out and even double layering , double hats , thick gloves with palm warmies not helping. I need a seat warmer for the tractor. Burrrr. Just did a quick critter check around the perimeter and found a couple places where the deer are resting during the early hours of the morning. Always a giveaway when tracks are left in the area and body indentations .But no other scat or critters hanging out .

Those stove suckers are pretty good too! This 100+ year old house has no such thing. And This Old House is very drafty, so no air pressure problems here.

We have a blizzard in progress, and it was Sabbath, so no garden work today. It might be a few days before the snow melts and the cold moderates. It was 6F this morning, and never got past 10F all day. The wind chill is 0F this evening. Layering one's clothes is a help. And one of my coats is full length. I usually wear it for good, but I am wearing it when outdoors today. And a thermal shirt, plus 2 sweaters, sweat slacks, heavy socks, etc.... We got about 2" of snow this morning, and the snow quit for a bit but after lunch it let loose again and is coming down heavily.

A neighbor's grandson stopped by to make sure we were okay. He is a good young man.
