@Doghouse Riley , you reminded me of a friend who is not supposed to be cutting trees down and using the chain saw due to an almost fatal accident about 18 months ago. He was cutting down a large tree and it fell on him. He had major injuries and they did not think he would walk again, and were not sure he would live. He did make a great recovery, and is walking etc. He might need another surgery or two, not sure. He had multiple surgeries to fix his injuries. The EMS made him a T shirt reminder:

I probably should stay off ladders myself and rarely use it. I do try to be careful. The other year when I was building my new shed and chicken coop (I probably mentioned this?) I was trying to loose a board from one end and got whacked upside the head and knocked down by a 2x4x10 foot board and had a dandy concussion... ouch. And then there are so many trees around here that need trimming and or cut down...

Anyhoo, I try to avoid ladders.

I have been working on more clean up in flower beds, and today I did get some of my echinacea seeds planted. And a bit of weeding in one bed. The echinacea needs cold stratified as it is perennial.

It's 11c but seems colder and it's raining. So nothing will get done outside today.
But my clematis order arrived. Due to the way they are handled, although carefully packed, I needed to top up the compost a bit, but they've joined the others in the shed, (left-hand saucer).

The armandii 'Apple Blossom' (right-hand saucer) are "raring to go," so much so, that I've had to give them taller support stakes, but I'll hold off planting them out for another couple of weeks.

Once the weather improves, I've a couple of cross beams to replace on the garage pergola.
I need to do this before the wisteria blossom buds start to open, as they are easily knocked off at that stage. I've ordered new fairy lights for this pergola, as the old ones have several bulbs that don't light up.
Main job this year, will be the cleaning and re-pointing of the path down from the main patio to the tea-house including the small patio behind the shed. But it isn't urgent. I need a nice warm day.
There may also but some re-painting of some of the woodwork. "So much to do, so little time."

Despite working in non stop drizzle and winds this morning I'm pleased to have cleaned up 2 more borders. Also did some light reshaping of a couple of shrubs. I'm not keen on the really clipped look....but hubs might think differently when he sees them:D

Hope to get back out there after lunch.:like:

    Rather you than me.
I'd never consider working in the garden, if it's cold and raining.
Now spending three and a half hours in the same circumstances, playing golf, has never been a problem for me.

    Strange that @Doghouse Riley :smt044

I probably wouldn't by choice go out on a walk....not going anywhere specific just an amble, but gardening that's different ..no problem at all.:D:like:

I meant going for a walk in the rain and wind of course in my post above, generally we love walking .

Here are 2 of the lightly reshaped shrubs..I know hubs will probably get his clippers out when the weather is more to his liking....I don't know ..these fair weather gardeners!!

And one of the small borders that got a quick once over this morning.

Had to tip toe around all the snoozing Dahlias.

After lunch as the breeze and drizzle had picked up I decided on an afternoon in the greenhouse giving some tlc to the overwintering plants.

I put some chicken pellets around the blackberry canes and the Loganberry canes, then a bit of compost around them. Yesterday i pulled up 5 sage plants that weren't doing well and today sowed some wild red poppy and corn chamomile seeds in their place. I saved the seeds from last year so it will be interesting to see if they come up.
It started to drizzle so i went in, it wasn't as nice as yesterday.
