Thanks @Sjoerd. I have plenty of lime. I filled those raised beds with bagged soil so that slime was hibernating in the bags, evidently. You just can't get good bagged soil anymore ; !! I swear !!
I agree, I do not use it at all. I do use seeding grit. I use my own compost and leaf mould. I really hope you can take control of this. The thing is, bringing the pH up with the lime is not ideal for strawbs…that is why you will need to move your bedding site. Do you know what I am saying here?
Yes, I have miacle brow acid fertilizer so, if I remove the slime and the use the Miracid, it should be ok.
@Anniekay , slime mold is harmless. I get it occasionally. It dries up and the brown spores float away. You can hose it off but it is really nothing to worry about. It likes moisture and mulch. A rather interesting organism.
Okay, this one is thankfully harmless, which we can also see. But if conditions are right for one type of fungus, they will be right for another - That we might not be able to see, which could be harmful to whatever we'll be growing... So I think it's going to be a good exercise, to try and eradicate this completely. Because if we get rid of one type successfully, it should also get rid of other harmful types too.
Thank you @Jewell . I keep removing it by hand. It's really slimey !! It hasn't tried to cover the strawberry plant again, thankfully. I'm just keeping an eye on it for now.
