GN, try not to use the colored pieces of the newspaper. The black ink is made from a vegetable dye, the colored may have chemicals in it.
And don't cut the foliage off when you move them. The bulbs feeds on it as it is drying up.
GN, before you put your mulch down lay some about 10 layers of wet newspaper down and put the mulch on top, it helps to keep any existing weeds...
