Flavor developes and gets stronger as they dry. When fresh its a milder taste and you can chop like a spring onion !!
I use some of mine as I need it straight from the ground. Has a nice mild flavor.
Just get the plants or sets. From seed you might get to plant them next year if you start the seeds now. It isn`t worth the trouble.
Sell them by the pound. Thats what the stores do.
The seeds are tiny.
