I too have a small space and suffer from many of the same problems (wood stove-can't be moved, dog crates which have since gone into the bedroom)....
Creativity and organization don't go together for me either. Your totes are so fantastic. Hope the heat soon lets up for you.
We do all of the above. City bins for both composting and recycling. Compost onsite for lawn and hedge trimmings to make for rich brown soil....
