Texas quiz: what is spring, and what is winter? We typically get two days of each, and don't have time to figure out any answers. I do know why you put kitchen towel rolls over leeks. They let the leeks develop more white stems. Teasel seed heads were used to comb woolen fabric to soften it, , but not for human hair!

Answers to quezzies on 2023 Winter/Spring Quiz: 17- the short-tailed vole has more in common with a hamster. In the classification it is in the Cricetidae Family that the hamster and the short-tailed vole belong to, the house mouse is in the Muridae Family 18- True. 19- Many snails like tender veggie leaves, but for some algae is at the top of their menu. We can’t see the colonies so easily on a naked stem, but the snail can find it and lick it off with their rasp-like “tongue”. 20- Teasel was used to card wool in the old days. The Dutch common name for this plant gives-away the answer— Kaardebol. 21- One pail of snow and one pail of ice weigh the same as one pail of water. 22- A double rainbow — the inner rainbow colour scheme is blue-green, yellow, red. The outer rainbow is usually less brilliant in colour ant that colour scheme is just the opposite-red, yellow, blue-green. 23- This is the wing of a maple seed. 24- They are the pupae of Ladybirds. 25- A banana has three segments.
