Am new to the site, so will introduce myself a bit and give you all some of my background. Come from a family of "gardeners" but have only had the opportunity to really get SERIOUS about it the last several years..and LOVE IT! Have a small unheated greenhouse where I raise plants started from seeds in a great south-facing sunroom, grow all my own plants in containers after due to poor soils in this locale, am AMAZED at results with the little bit of work/effort involved in doing so.
My only "formal training" has been taking the Master Gardener's course offered (Casper); spending a few years with the organization as their greenhouse manager; being employed as a caretaker of a 300 foot long berm (containing nothing but xeriscaping plants) they started where their office is located, and being rather instrumental in the formation of an educational herb garden nearby on the same property. Had some knowledge to begin with but learned..FAST!..Wyoming is another world when it comes to gardening: thank Heavens I invested in a computer and printer to keep researched information for future referance!
I've written articles pertaining to gardening; taught classes on using dried materials in wreaths/decorations (all self-taught); am a very firm believer in planting-by-the-moon and using only organic methods of fertilizing/pest/bug control on my plants..indoors and out. Have very neglected (by all means) orchids that continue to bloom, African violets, two thriving lemon eucalyptus seedlings, a Musa and taro plants growing IN WYOMING without the greenhouse culture they really need..who said it can't be done?
All in all being said, I'm very GLAD to find a site to share growing experiences and LEARN from others with more knowledge than me!
