Hi EILEEN-- Thanks for your nice comments. Yes, it was a lot of work and I can feel a little bit of stiffness, but that is already wearing off to an un-noticeable level. I think that I will use the fence next year as well, if the neighbour bloke doesn't get to it first. hahaha. I think that I was lucky to get my potatos out before the phytophthora becomes rampant. You are welcome, DONNA--I still have 2½ weeks of vacation, and I do not plan to sit still for all of them. I have harvesting to do every day along with the processing of it in the evenings...and I must pull out a couple of strawberry beds and get them planted green manure as well as a number of other chores....however, I do plan to just sit around in the shade and take it easy a little bit as well. The flower garden is particularly nice to be in now.
Another "spud"tacular posting . I hope you weather has improved. Didn't you have a lot of rain the last time you had a garden vacation? I enjoyed seeing your harvest, and your gardens are looking neat and tidy. I hope your little bee survived, she looks soaked and exhausted. I planted some crocosmia this year, it has a pretty bloom. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
Chuckle--CHERYL. Good one, GAIL-- No weather improvement today, darn it. I have thick beans hanging on the plants and they need to be harvested, but I can't do that when the leaves are wet, as it is known that bean leaves are prone to infection when wet. Thanks so much for your complimentary comments. The bumble bee was gone the next day. Fingers crossed. I am glad that your Crocosmia bloomed for you this year. I shall do my best to enjoy the vacation...hahaha,that won't be difficult. p.s. Ja, you are right about that rain during the last gardening vacation. T'is a bit frustrating. We have to hand-in our vacation requests in october of the preceeding year, so it is always pure luck if I wind up with good weather during my gardening vacas.
Hi Sjoerd, i really enjoyed that tour,..all the time thinking of my plans for next year,..looking at your paths i was reminded of how i used to keep neat paths between each section and took time to "edge" with a spade,..it makes the garden look professional,..as does yours. I reckon lots of people will have being disappointed with the potato harvest due to sooooo much rain this year,..but its either a feast or a famine where rain and good weather are concerned,..oh i like those Beetroot,..VERY handy for slicing!. My Crocosmia are just starting to bloom,..not as dark red as yours,..more of an orange colour,..we are about the same crop time wise,..and with weather conditions. Nice to see you saved the Bee,..like you i have a soft spot for them,..they do good work in the garden,..as for the slug,..may he stay across the water,..lol,..very enjoyable post Sjoerd.
Hi Philip--Thanks for reading the posting and making nice comments. Yes I have BIG soft spot for bees alright. I am pleased with the grass paths too. I fought grass for yeasrs and just could not win and keep it off my paths, so I gave in and satisfy myself now by just keeping it contained.
