In the extreme Western part of Massachusetts nestled in the rolling hills is the Berkshire Botanical Gardens. My wife and I spent a couple of hours walking through this a gem of a garden. It was a weekday and we had the garden to ourselves. Jerry http://www.gardenstew.com/plantstew/alb ... r_id=10953
That is a nice collection of pictures showing the botanical garden. Good planning to be the only visitors there. I enjoyed seeing the various plants that you showed and I can only wonder how it would look in the spring and the height of summer. Will you return later in the year?
It must have felt special to be the only ones there. The gardens are lovely, especially for this time of year. Will you be going back in the spring and summer as I'd love to see the changes that the different seasons bring?
It takes about 3 hours to get there and for flowers there are closer places like Garden in the Woods. We did visited several places during our excursion that year, an 18 century village with authentic buildings, Sturbridge Village. The botanical garden and the Shaker Museum in Hancock MA with its exceptional round barn. Pictures? If anyone is interested I will download them, not too many flowers, mostly 18 and 19th century buildings. Being a nuts and bolts person I find the mechanical workings inside workshops and of daily life of the period most fascinating. Jerry
Oh yes please Jerry could you post them for us? Living in a 17th century cottage has always made me keen to see what other centuries architecture is like. I'd also like to see the photographs of the workshops and love to look at what implements and machines they had available to them in times gone by.
Yes, Jerry; please post the pics of the 'old stuff', I'm also one who has a high level of interest in that sort of thing.. Hank
