I just fetched (got permission) myself several Iris plants(tubers). There is an empty lot in my mobile home park, that had about 10 plants. Do Iris bloom more than once a year? If not, I hope I have a nice surprise of several colors when they bloom next year! ;)

Mine bloom only once. Cant speak for all varieties though. Give them a nice dose of composted cow manure or it might take 2 years to see them pop.

Congratulations, kuntrygal! Our iris only bloom once, but they haven't even thought of starting anytime soon. :D

There are some re-blooming varieties but they are not very common and only became available in the last two-three years. But the green leaves will be pretty for this year. Just be sure not to plant them deep, they should be just barely under the ground with part of the rhizome showing.

I have some siberian iris and they are purple. They only bloom once a year, but they are so pretty when they do. The foliage is great also so when they are not in bloom they still look good in the garden.

Can't wait to see pics next year. Good luck with them.
