cactus different names found

    hi,
    this is one cactus i bought recently. the name it came with is rhipsalis, then i found the name crab cactus with the botanical name - schlumbergera truncata. now which is the correct one?
    i have uploaded the picture in plantstew, rhipsalis.
    anyway, i will upload it once more here.

    That certainly looks like a type of holiday cactus, the Schlumbergia. If you checked the Rhipsalis, they've got these twiglike branches, and not the broad leaves of the holiday cactus.

    I'm guessing somebodey mixed-up the markers.

    Easter Cactus- Hatiora gaertneri (formerly Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri) is a totally different plant from the Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera Bridgesii)

    Since either one can be made to bloom at any time of the year the indentification of them has pretty much become really confused.

    The tag on your's is for the Easter Cactus.

    Easter cactus, hummmmmmmmmm Nice to know cause I have some growing for the first time here.

    Not in bloom yet, happy to know it could do it anytime..

    To make them bloom you need to put them in total darkness 12-14 hours a day for about 6 weeks and cut back on watering. Then bring them back out and they should start budding.
