Feel free to add yours Just made the first batch of mince pies, always buy the mincemeat in jars, i put a bit of sherry in.
@Logan Do you have free shipping ? Just kidding…I like mince meat pies too. You got skills they look yummy.
Thank you @Sjoerd and @Pacnorwest I used work as a cook assistant so i picked up a few skills. You know that they used to put real meat in them.
I've made loaves of cranberry orange nut bread, pumpkin nut bread, and apple nut bread. All turned out well, to my great relief! This coming week I'll make the cranberry chutney and a batch of ginger snaps. For some reason, ginger snaps just sing "Christmas" to me! Logan, those pies look delicious, and the crust is so special. Well done!
Boy Marlin, you are really splashing-out. It all sounds so good. Ginger snaps—I lurve anything with ginger in it…in fact, my Bride s a ginger.
Thanks Sjoerd, today i did the roast parsnips but forgot to take a pic before i put them in the freezer. I've got a small cook book and the title is Christmas from the Freezer, that's where I've got the idea to prepare in advance.
I see, Loggie. Well, preparation is an important thing in many things. You do such a good job. I told my Bride that you first roast your parsnips before freezing them in. She has noted that many British folks do a lot of oven work. We see that on “Escape to the Country” shows. It is amazing to see the ovens, hobs ranges….sometimes two different types in one kitchen! Wow. Then also a couch/ sofa in there too. It is all so different from here.
Thank you Sjoerd, i used to watch that programme but most kitchens and mine aren't big enough for a sofa, we have a separate dining room from the kitchen. I've got a stand alone cooker with a double oven, a large one for cooking the turkey and a smaller one that's a grill as well. Also it's lined with self clean liners, that i had fitted before buying.
Thanks but not really, i did used to be a cook assistant at a Littlewoods store but it's not there anymore.
Thank you Sjoerd. Today i cooked the roast potatoes and put them in the freezer, I'll brown them up on the day and beyond.
