Very interesting article on the BBC News website site today about tackling waste management and landfills using composting. They mention the concept of 'community composting' where the community contribute their compostable household waste to a communal compost bin and then receive back lots of compost gold for their gardens and window boxes Read here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4753331.stm
West Lothian have supplied us with brown composting bins already. However, I have three of my own so put most of the waste in them. They take the composting material away every fortnight but then later sell it back to you as garden compost!! :-x Much cheaper to make my own. However, it is a good idea for those who haven't the space or time to do their own composting. I know that some councils give free 'drops' of compost to allotment holders.
