Usually I have to collect cardboard and paper shreddings from local businesses to get enough "brown" material for my compost pile.

This year I've got the chicken bedding (pine shavings) and I'm wondering if that will do the trick? I tried looking it up, but found some conflicting answers on ratios of "green" to "brown"

I dump at least 3 gallons of kitchen scraps a week from August-October, the rest of the year it's about 1 gallon per week.

Every other week I clean the coop and this leaves 2 gallon buckets of bedding with chicken manure to be composted.

August-October green to brown ratio: 3-5:1
    November-July: 1:1

I hope I've made enough sense of this, any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
