ducklings!

    hi sjoerd! sorry to have been gone for so long...buzy buzy buzy! i have a bunch of garden pics to post later, too!

    the duckies will be mainly for their eggs. you know, one chicken egg for breakfast is not quite enough, and a duck egg is like one and a half chicken eggs....just right, imo! :D

    we also may butcher a couple. we have to see how many males there are. we need a few to fertilize the eggs...better for you! we should know in a couple more weeks. the 'boys' get a little curly-que type feather over their tails.

    we can also use them for barter.

    the ducks are 13 weeks today! here's a couple closeups of them...

    they have bright blue feathers on their wings that shine in the sun...

    Gosh Bunkie--they look quite attractive. What a change from the plumage that they were sporting as ducklings, eh?
    You have done a smashing job rearing them.

    Yes Bip, we still have 3 boys and 11 girls. I've posted pics on the 'bunkie doing' thread.
