I buy an Easter Lily every year, after it's finished blooming I usually throw it away. How can I keep it and have it bloom again in a pot not the ground. I also live in Hawaii if that makes a difference.

It has probably been in it's present pot for several months so get a pot a size or two larger to transplant it to, Lilies do not like crowded roots. Also, plant the bulb a couple of inches deeper than it was in the original pot.

It won't survive as a houseplant so choose a sunny spot outside for it, water and fertilize like you would any other outdoor plant through the year. The green part will die back but don't cut it off until it is completely dead and pulls away easily, bulbs restore their energy for the next growing season through those leaves.

In your climate it may very well send up green shoots and even bloom again in late summer or it may rest until next spring.
