Feeding juvenile Hairy Woodpecker.

    The Hairy Woodpeckers used to be rare visitors till this year. They had been feeding a young one for a few days and now it comes on its own. The red patch on the juvie looks wrong but it will go with its first molt.

    What a treat to have these birds in your garden. We have Great Spotted Woodpeckers here but I've never seen a juvenile - yet.
