Finches love suet!

    We have three suet feeders out, and the house finches visit them regularly. Here are two males on the suet outside the kitchen window:

    Oh I know just what you mean Jane. I put fat cakes out every day for the birds. It amazes me how many different species love them. In this weather the feeders are always needing refilled. It's good to see your House finches enjoying them in Texas just as much as our feathered friends do here in Scotland.

    Frank, my husband made the suet cake holder from scrap lumber and some left-over hardware cloth. That man can make anything!

    I have always loved the finches...I am hoping they come around after the eagles leave our area...I think that will be when all of the boats start coming on the lake. We are not feeding them because I think all of the large birds would go after them.
