So last year was my second year on my vege garden, and i thought i would go ahead and try out flowers as well as veges! So i planted so many flowers this year, unfortunately i didn't know better when transferring them from indoors to outdoors so most plants died this year. I still got a good few to grow though after the fact.

I started off with planting 2 tulip bulbs last year and got this:

Then i planted som Nasturtiums which i like to call panda paws because their leaves look like the chocolate chunks in panda paws ice cream

I even have collected many seeds so i can plant next year!!

Then i have two surviving marigolds! They were actually transfers and i was happy they continued to grow! they are just gorgeous

I have actually collected their seeds as well!! I'm excited to be able to learn how to do this, i actually stumbled on how to get the marigold seeds by accident.... i picked a dead one and wnated to see the inside.... and lo and behold... SEED! XD I have so many right now.

I also planted a canna plant as well. my friend gave me a bunch of bulbs and two of them grew

I also grew some mornin glories. I got lucky on these, i almost planted them too late but i got plenty and they are still blooming!!!

Last and certainly not least my sons favorite flower, sunflowers!! I bought a roll that had different types so they were all different sizes, but most taller than me!! AND GORGEOUS!!

For a first time flower gardener you have some gorgeous blooms. Congratulations on a job well done. The Morning Glory will re-seed during the growing season so you should have baby plants showing up all the way to the first freeze and new ones will pop up next Spring as well.

Gosh you did well for your first years flower gardening. Your sunflowers are beautiful and the birds will love you when the seed heads ripen as they are a favourite of our feathered friends. The blue of the morning glories always remind me of a summer sky - such a lovely shade of blue. Nasturtiums are a firm favourite of mine too. Did you know that the leaves and flowers are edible? The leaves have a slightly peppery taste and go well with burgers.

Beautiful flowers! I like them all so I can't pick a favorite other than maybe the nasturtiums but that's because they don't like my soil or something as they just die. You've done really well with the flowers you've planted..and they show it.

wonderful foto's Shaw! I really did enjoy seeing them. It looks like you did pretty darn good in spite of loosing so many in the spring. I have grown some of the same ones.
The tulip is a real looker, isn't it.

I hope that you will try more flowers again next year and pay close attention to your timing.
    Bonne chance.

I love sunflowers but I have never planted any seeds...I feed the birds and the squirrels and chipmunks seem to plant quite a few for us. I just have to remind my husband not to pull all of them. Very pretty flowers and I love the variety with the sunflowers. I hope this summer your excitement will continue.
