Hi! Me and my boyfriend are moving into our first house but are unsure what to do with the living room. We want to have our 32" tv, couch and matching chairs as well as a desk in there but it is a tricky room to layout because of a woodburning fireplace that is the main focal point in the room and in a central area...there are also three doorways and a wall of almost all windows. The chairs are standard armchair size and the couch is roughly 6.5ft long by 3 or so ft deep. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated...hopefully the image uploads the properly it is a floor plan of the room.

Easy furniture grouping in front of fp, couch facing it, chairs opposite ea other, and TV mounted above fp, then you have the best of both worlds, watching fire and TV in a cozy grouping.
Then plenty of wall space for a desk. If no carpet in the room? anchor the grouping with a pretty area rug.

We thought of that as a layout but the fireplace mantle is placed high enough that we would constantly be looking up at the t.v not ideal for comfortable veiwing... it is hard wood through out

You could try a diagonal arrangement, that's what we had to do in our small space. The space to the right of fireplace could house the corner tv stand?

This is the view from the back of the sofa that is parallel to the tv stand. Your fireplace would be on the wall the painting is on. We have two matching chairs on either side of the sofa, one sits in front of our window.

On second thought...that puts a chair right up to the fireplace. Hmmm.

I know it would be easy to arrange if the fireplace was lower or three three doorways weren't in all the corners :) the diagonal might be something to think about though thanks for the suggestion
