    marlin gardner… that is a sad situation. Shortages have happened before but not quite to this extreme. I have the chance to pick up bales out of the field for free this year for winter feeding, the small bales. I may pick up a few if I can physically lift 80 pound bales, only if they are dry enough they could be lighter. The heat wave has effected the hay industry here.
    Last year, I averaged about $300 a ton for orchard hay, big difference from what it cost today.
    It’s close to $600, which is almost double! The shortages are taking a toll on many industries .
    Horse barns prices go up and many can’t afford to feed their horses and the horses are suffering .

    Glad you're all OK! We were out travelling, but still read the news. It's been a weird summer weatherwise.
