Brilliant idea and by what I saw of it, when it gets to the creamy stage it's good for using in showers as a shower cream.

That's interesting toni nice one and what made me look it up with the highlander books as history is mentioned in them and certain things just make me interested...does it work out a lot cheaper?...years ago my mom used to buy the old square blocks of fairy soap lol

More expensive, but higher quality. You can do a basic soap, with crisco. But its a rough lye soap.

I made soap 14 years ago with lye that I made from wood ash. My wife has made good soaps a few times.

Since the early 1970's making soap appealed to me, but life got in the way and I also learned the lye method was a bit scary. But then I found the melt and pour in about 2005

I have made it using real plants for fragrance and color but in the last many years I use purchased oils. Never used colors (except the plant material would turn the soap a pretty green or brown depending on what I was using.).
