About 20 (or so) years ago, my son got me interested in a computer game called Guild Wars, I needed a user name. He was playing World of Warcraft (WOW) at the time, and I guess there's a will-o-wisp in WOW. He came up with it, so Willowisp it was. At that time the numbers were 417, which is his birthday, but I've since changed to my birthday. I was also watching Buffy (the vampire slayer) as a way to bond with the rough Jr Highers I worked with, and I liked Buffy's friend Willow. So now I'm always some version of Willowisp.

Back in the 1990's, when the only way to use the internet was via text, and LISTSERVs were a thing, my job description was "inspector." I didn't want everyone to know that, so I shortened it to "spector." After a while, that is what everyone called me, and it stuck.

It's my name, with the added insect (honeybee, actually) that my grandfather loved. He was a beekeeper and professor of entomology who produced delicious honey for many and helped educate future generations of beekeepers and gardeners.:flower::heart:

MEGO, I really like your story . I like to think of it being some way connected as, "I will go" but in your street language, "MEGO".
Willowisp, love the user-name. Also your son's birthdate is supposed to
be my "Lucky" number and once when I was in a tight spot, I played it and paid my rent.
SuzieBee, my daddy kept bees and a brother in law did as well. We always buy organic honey from Bee-keepers in wide open, country
    places.
Spector, internet sure has changed since those days. I think back to "Dial-up", how eternally slow it was and the speed we are blessed with today. How I ever found time for internet then amazes me.

SuzieBee, wait til @Sjoerd sees your posting about your grandfather. He'll be interested I think.

Back slang was common in South London in the fifties, when I was a kid.

Some of which was used in the grocery store in which I worked on Saturdays, whilst I was still at school.

    One I particularly remember.

    cigameniragram

"I'll type this phonetically," as you would say it.

    "Seegameeny ragram"

    was Magic Margarine.

Dianne, that is a sweet, little home away from home.
My username is obvious. Growing my own food can be a pain,
but as in giving birth, a pain worthwhile.
