Here are two different pic's of the same silly Red Squirrel we have in our yard. It must think it is part Oriole and part Woodpecker. As it loves the jelly I put out for the Orioles and also love to eat the suet I put out for the Woodpeckers.
I thought having a woodpecker with a sweet tooth who would come and drink out of the oriole feeder was strange enough. But this little squirrel really tops them all.

Our squirrels hang by their back toes from the suet block cage. swing themselves up to take a chunk of suet out then hang upside down while eating it.

Wow Tonie those squirrels will turn themselves almost inside out to get a treat. Have you got a pic you could share with us. I would love to see that. :stew1:

I just looked at the photo again and he isn't hanging from the suet block cage but from a tree branch above the suet.

I didn't get one of him hanging upside down to eat, my camera batteries died, so he was going back for another bite when I got back to the window and then something spooked him and he left. Later I found the suet cage on the ground empty.

Toni those are great pictures. They will turn themselves inside out to get a free treat. That looks like a Fox Squirrel. We have quite a few of them but none of them eat our suet. Thanks for sharing those pic's. :stew1:

I have a chipmunk that likes to eat the jelly...I try to chase them off of it because I don't want them scaring off my Orioles.

Sherry they little critters are pretty persistant. I am going to pick up some unsalted peanuts and live trap the ones that are digging holes in my front flower bed. Then I will transport them on the otherside of the valley to a new home. They can be pretty distructive in ones gardens. Last year I think I caught 6 of those little critters. Where there is one there will surely be a lot more coming.
    Have a great day. :stew1:
