I planted too many herbs, again! When I start herbs I always count on a few not germinating, not surviving transplanting. I should have learned from experience . . . . I harvested more herbs today, and found that two of the basil stems I had in water on the windowsill (thinking they would be used fresh or for garnish) have roots. I really hadn't planned on more basil, but basil is like garlic--no such thing as too much. The rosemary that I cut back hard has bushed out and is bigger than ever. At least the sprigs on the windowsill that are destined to be put under the skin of a roast chicken haven't developed roots. Does anyone else plant too much of something and end up with a plethora of plants? Please tell me I am not alone.
....I always plant too many peppers - because I'm worried they won't grow. I used to have a lot of problems with them. Four years ago we had to erect a second temporary green house to house them, the "pepper shack". I'm trying to have a little self control this year. I just counted..only 15.......ermmmmm. Shoot - I didn't think there were that many.
Yes i get carried away with the flower seeds, especially the snapdragons. In the past i lose a few from pricking out but this year I've got it right. I've got a lot of lupin plants, i had so many i had to be ruthless and throw some out.
I am in this club as well. I do not call it reckless or excessive…I call it good gardening practice.
@Logan SHOCK! Toss them? Such self control. I just keep sticking them in the ground and then start passing them on to neighbors and strangers.
I don't have neighbours to give to who would want them and my friends as well. I haven't got room for all of them, i kept the best ones.
