Well... hopefully. But at least now I know who's been building this nest on my stand... a mockingbird.

Oh Wow, that is super fantastically cool. I have never found a Mockingbird nest. Please keep the photos coming from egg to fledge if you can.

Cheryl--The bird built the nest just right on top of your stand? Out in the open? Isn't that unusual? It is a beautiful looking nest with very attractive eggs.

I hope the mockingbird gets to rear its chicks to fledging but that nest looks so exposed where it's been built. I'll keep my fingers crossed that no predators spot it. :fingerscrossed:

    Cayuga... it's pretty well protected.

No activity... except for mama coming and going and sitting.

However... I do have a new baby Kildee! Yep... she nested right in the middle of the driveway again. I put a branch to mark the nest so it wouldn't get run over. Yesterday, I heard chirping and was able to get close enough to see one of the eggs had hatched. Mama was pretty upset and it was starting to drizzle, so I didn't try to get a close-up of the baby.

Lots of babies! Love how the nest, eggs and painted surfaces all match. Do you suppose that bird is an interior designer?

It's interesting the way some birds build their nests in such close proximity to us. That will be fun to see the babies.
I have a Robin nesting in my big Sycamore on a branch right over the driveway. Robins are such nice, good birds. They are good parents too. Not to mention the pretty songs.
Further up in the Sycamore are Bluejays. They are plentiful around here, and so noisy!! There are junior Bluejays all over the yard right now.
