In Quest of the Sun by Alain Gerbault.

Available on line. I found this book to be one of those that you often return to time and again. My first read of it was back in the 1950's, then for several years the story remained fresh in my memory. Then whilst holidaying in the New Forest my wife Valerie discovered a 1st. Ed copy in a second-hand book shop. That became my wedding anniversary present for 1987, 26th. Since then I can't say how many times ive read it.

It is based on the ship's log of the Firecrest, a small yacht. The owner/author set out alone sailing through the Panama Canal and visiting countless tropical islands, Fiji and the Polynesian islands. The time period seems milleniums before our present era.

I became engrossed in the adventurousness of the author Alain Gerbault. The storms at sea, and perhaps most of all, the friendliness of the native peoples. I do hope you enjoy the read as much as I did/do.
