The obsession with messing with nature just to look the way society thinks you should look has saturated the world of dogs too, how sad.

I don't know why we have to have show dogs with cropped tails, cropped ears, over or undershot jaws. too short or too long bodies/heads and a plethora of man-made deformities and diseases. :-x I know there are people who love to show their dogs but, please. leave the breeds the way they are supposed to be!! We wouldn't do it to your children so why, oh why, do we do it to our animals? It's not just dogs either but cats, cattle, sheep, goats, even our pet birds. I'm sorry but I've seen so much distress, in my career as a veterinary nurse, caused to animals through our 'good intentions' and it makes me soooo angry. :-x

I liked the standard at the end of the article.
Feet. Four. One at the end of each leg.
    Ears. Yes. Two of them.

As long as there's never a trend for 3 footed, one eared dogs for show purposes!!!

That was a very interesting article. I emailed it to my dad, he loves reading stuff like that (and agrees with em too). That last picture of the bulldog skull freaked me out (the way the jaw jutted out! My god...)!
