Is it possible to take a lilac cutting from a lilac tree?

    hello all , is it possible to take a lilac cutting from a lilac tree and if so how do you do it , any advise gratefully taken thanks :?: :)

    I have done it. I do it in Spring and I take relatively new growth about 4 inches. I clean all the lower leaves gently off and then dip it in root hormone. Put it in a pot with holes in the bottom and good potting soil, water it and place the pot in a plastic bag much higher than the top of the plant so you can twistie it shut to keep the moisture in. Open it smell and check it every so often and eventually you will see roots coming out of the bottom holes of the pot, then you know that soon it's time to transplant.
