I'm sure it's something I planted last year, but I can't remember what. Weed or flower :?: Thanks for any help.

Can you take a photo when there is shade on the plant? The color is washed out and it's difficult to distinguish the plant from the mulch. ;)

Not sure about Monarda? The leaves are to shiny I think. One way you can tell if it is monarda-Bee Balm, is by rubbing the leaf between your fingers then smelling it. It has a pungent sort of earthy smell. :stew1:

I think it's Monarda too. Check for square stems as well as the earl grey smell.

Ditto Netty & Tooty. It looks a bit like Beebalm, but the sniff test & the square stem test will tell you for sure.

I am not so sure that is monarda, if it is it surely looks nothing like mine. In the same respect, it doesn't remind me of anything. It doesn't look at all familiar, so it must not be hardy this far north, either. I don't think it is a weed, either. It just doesn't have that "look".

No square stem and it smells lemony.

It almost looks like Bugle weed. Can't remember the other name for it. It will spread every where if that is what it is. :stew1:

Tooty, Are you thinking "ajuga"? if so ajuga is much more "ground coverish", not as upright as this plant.
